  While the manufacturer recommends a 5-inch spacing around the burner, it's not a strict rule. You can choose a burner size that best fits your opening while staying close to the 5-inch spacing. However, we recommend not going below a 3-inch spacing.
  
  

• How low should your burner be?

  We recommend placing the burner 4-5 inches below the finished top. The burner itself sits about 3 inches above the pan/plate, leaving approximately 1-2 inches of space above it. This extra space allows for the addition of a Fire Pit Cover or extra Lava Rock/Fire Glass.
  
  

• What size burner do I need?

  To determine the appropriate size burner, start by measuring the desired or existing opening. The manufacturer recommends a 5-inch spacing around the burner as a benchmark. For example, if you have a 40-inch opening, a 30-inch burner would be ideal.
