Will a concrete fire pit crack?

Bope! GFRC is engineered to resist cracking thanks to glass fibers within the mix. These bring a level of tensile strength that poured concrete just can’t match. Be aware that extreme freeze-thaw cycles can stress any material, but GFRC handles them well. We still recommend a cover during the off-season.

How safe is a concrete fire pit?

Most gas fire pits can sit on a concrete patio. The flame radiates upward, and manufactured models are insulated at the base. Just know that the surface underneath may get discolored over time. You can put a heat-resistant pad underneath if you’re worried about that.

What should you put on the bottom of a fire pit?
