Wood Burning Fire Pits
Enjoy an Authentic Wood-Burning Fire Pit on the Patio!
There’s no denying the convenience of gas fire pits, but there’s always something special about a wood fire pit that burns real lumber. The smell, the crackling sound, and the sparks as the wood burns is something natural gas or propane cannot replicate. It’s why we’re still proud to carry the best selection of wood-burning fire pits from industry-leading brands.
Royal Fire Pits carries a range of models handcrafted from 1/4-inch carbon steel in Tennessee. Every piece comes with the artist’s signature so you can rest assured you’re getting a true work of art. These fire pits develop a natural iron oxide patina over time, and it gets deeper with each burn.
Shop sizes ranging from 23 inches all the way up to 72 inches. Prices start just over $1,000, too, so you can get an awesome fire pit without breaking the bank. We will match any other authorized dealer’s price, too. We also cover the shipping and don’t charge sales tax.
Take a look around and see what catches your eye. We have more than 20 styles to choose from. From lotus flower cutouts that throw patterned light after dark to seashell silhouettes that transport you to a coastal setting, there’s a design for every taste.

Frequently asked questions
Is it okay to burn lumber in a fire pit?
No. Construction lumber is pressure-treated or chemically processed, so you’ll release toxic fumes when you burn it. This type of lumber can also leave behind chemical residue in the bowl. Always burn natural, untreated firewood.
What should you put in the bottom of a wood-burning fire pit?
We recommend a layer of sand or some lava rock to protect the base from direct heat contact and improve airflow under the logs.
What's the best wood-burning fire pit?
Anything from Fire Pit Art. These are handcrafted from ¼” carbon steel and finished with a natural iron oxide patina that holds up year after year. They start at only $1,014.
What wood should you not burn in a fire pit?
We don’t recommend softwoods like pine, spruce, and cedar - they pop and throw sparks, and they also make a lot more creosote. Treated, painted, or composite wood is even worse. Stick with seasoned hardwoods such as oak, hickory, maple, or cherry.
Can I let my fire pit burn out overnight?
No. An unattended fire is a serious safety hazard, even if you think the flames have dwindled down to a safe level. Always spread the coals and wait until the ash is cool before walking away.
What is the safest type of wood fire pit?
You should choose a steel wood-burning fire pit because it won’t crack from heat like concrete or stone, and it holds the fire in on all sides. Every fire pit we sell is safe. Most of the “risk” is associated with user error.
