Frequently asked questions
What is the best material for a fire table?
It depends on what you’re willing to spend. Aluminum fights corrosion and comes in the widest array of colors so you can match the fire table to your patio or outdoor space. Stainless steel is the best metal fire table material if you live by the coast where humidity/salt are a concern, though. Hammered copper or corten steel are great options if you want a finish that changes over time. We also have a separate concrete fire table if you want to check that out!
Why are metal fire tables so expensive?
Because the materials themselves are expensive to manufacture. But these are actually a more affordable option than their concrete counterparts, so we don’t necessarily consider them “expensive.” Plus, just think of all the enjoyment they’ll bring to your home!
Is a fire table safe on a deck?
Yes, most of the metal fire tables we carry are equipped with insulated bases so they won’t transfer heat to whatever surface they’re resting upon. Always check the manufacturer’s specs to be sure, though, and use a heat-rated pad on composite or softwood decking.
Can you use a fire table on a covered porch?
Yes. As long as there is ample overhead clearance, you have nothing to worry about. Most models we carry will call for at least 8-10 feet between the flame and any ceiling.
Can you put a fire pit directly on pavers?
You can, but it’s still best to have a heat shield underneath. It’ll protect your pavers from discoloration and thermal cracking. That being said, the typical metal fire table with an insulated base sends heat upward. Not downward. It shouldn’t be an issue.
Do you need a cover for a fire table?
It’s definitely worth the investment to protect your fire table from the elements when you’re not using it for an extended period of time.
What size metal fire table is right for my outdoor space?
You just want to leave 3-4 feet of clearance on each side for seating. A 30-36 inch model (round or square) is great for a space under 100 square feet. We have much larger 60-80 inch fire tables for commercial spaces, too. Ask our customer service team for a personalized recommendation.
